It is approximately 5 miles from the sandy beaches of the coast of Lincolnshire. This combination of landscapes makes it a perfect location to explore.
In Alford there is evidence of occupation in the Roman period closely followed by the Anglo Saxons and the Danes.
Alford is steeped in fine history and many of the key events of the town can be explored further at Alford Manor House, Alford Corn Exchange, St Wilfrid's Church and throughout the town.
Alford is also home to one of the very few remaining five-sailed windmills in the country.
The Mill is currently under restoration to bring it back to its former glory. However, you can watch the progress of the restoration from the onsite Cafe and Farm shop, which is open weekends throughout the summer months.
This spectacular example of the millwright's work is a must for young and old alike.
